Bishop Loughlin star Branden Frazier verbally commits to Hofstra
Wednesday, 10 March 2010

ImageNY Daily News: Speedy Claxton. Loren Stokes. Antoine Agudio. Charles Jenkins. Hofstra University has consistently churned out high-scoring guards over the past decade, and the Pride will add another talented scorer to the fold next winter.

Branden Frazier , a 6-3 guard from Bishop Loughlin HS in Brooklyn, verbally committed to Hofstra on Monday night, the Daily News has learned. Frazier chose the Pride over Southern Illinois, Penn State, LaSalle and Fordham.

He made that decision in part because he wanted to stay close to home and in part because he saw the Pride's legacy of standout backcourt performers, according to Kimani Young, Frazier's AAU coach with New Heights.

"Hofstra assistant Van Macon and (head coach) Tom Pecora did an excellent job recruiting him," Young told the News. "They really helped him understand that staying close to home and playing in front of fans who know him was an important part of his development."

Marist may have lost a commitment from 6-10 big man Naofall “Ming” Follahan but they did not waste any time finding another 6-10 big man to add to the 2010 recruiting class.

On Saturday February 27, Pieter Prinsloo made the decision to verbally commit to the Marist Red Foxes.

We saw Pieter back in July of 2009 and he proved to be an intriguing prospect.  He wasn't very athletic but displayed good footwork and rebounded the ball very well.  What really stood out about his performance though was the fact that he buried a pair of shots from behind the arc and appeared to have a smooth stroke.

We caught up with Pieter to ask him a couple questions about his decision to play for Marist.

We first learned of his this commitment from a Campus Watch blog post online at The Buffalo News.

After seeing this article we wanted to find out more about Manigat’s commitment so we reached out directly to him to get more details.

Back in December, Kaleb Clyburn committed to Central Connecticut State University over offers from Columbia, Stetson and Colgate.

When we interviewed Kaleb shortly after his commitment it seemed like he had found the right fit.  He liked the coaching staff, the players, the direction of the program, and the education that CCSU could provide.

Since that interview though things have apparently changed, as Kaleb has decided to open back up his recruitment.

We again caught up with Kaleb, this time to find out more about why he decided to de-commit from CCSU.

Manhattan scores another recruitment victory
Wednesday, 03 March 2010

ImageNY Daily News: Manhattan may have struggled through a 10-19 campaign this season as it heads into this weekend's MAAC tournament in Albany. But off the court, Jaspers coach Barry Rohrssen continues to post tremendous recruiting victories.

Barely a week after he landed Transit Tech shot-blocking phenom Rhamel Brown, Rohrssen added another gem to his 2010 recruiting stable when he received a verbal commitment from Joel (Air Jamaica) Wright . The 6-6 Wright had originally committed to Fordham but backed out of his agreement in December when the school fired former coach Dereck Whittenburg.

Since he re-opened his recruitment, Wright, a native of Jamaica, had received scholarship offers from a variety of brand name schools such as Providence, Baylor, Miami and Drexel but Rohrssen doggedly pursued Wright and ultimately landed the coveted forward in Riverdale. It was quite a coup for Rohrssen.
