Loyola Blakefield shooting guard Matt Rum is garnering D-I attention with his play this year.  Only a junior, Rum is already one of the better players in his area and is averaging over 15 points per game.

What really stands out about Rum’s game is his jump shot.  He can shoot the mid range jumper or take it out beyond the three point line and consistently knock down shots from there.

While Rum does handle the ball well, he is not quick enough to get to the hoop consistently.  He has offset this a bit by developing a solid mid range pull up game.

Besides his jump shot, Rum also does a few little things that make him a more valuable player.  He hustles whenever he is on the court and he also runs the floor well.

Rum has played his way into his first scholarship offer.  With William & Mary coaches in the stands for the game against Calvert Hall, Rum went off for a season high 26 points, and hit the game winning shot with only 3.3 seconds left in the game.

The following week William & Mary offered Rum a scholarship.  This is the first offer extended to him so far.

There are a few other teams actively recruiting him, including Fairfield, Mount St. Mary’s, and Towson.  Other teams previously mentioned with interest in Rum are George Mason, St. Joe’s, Xavier, Colgate and Richmond.

Rum is content with his first offer but he will be waiting to see what other offers roll in.
