Chris Evans
The live period is over, but the spring action continues. Some of the top teams from the region were on hand this weekend at the University of Virginia. CAA Insider was on hand and here is a look at some of the top players from Saturday's action.

Petersburg Elite

Chris Evans (2009 6-7 SF/PF)
Chris put together two fabulous games. He has good size and actually prefers to use it to attack from the perimeter. He handles the ball well and can get into the lane. He'll use crossover moves at times. Chris is very explosive and athletic, and made several plays above the rim after driving. Among those plays was an alley oop. He also loves to score by using his size in the lane to convert on runners. He banked home one runner and threw down a couple dunks. Chris has good hands and does a decent job on the boards. He didn't show much of a perimeter shot and if he wants to continue to play on the wing, he'll need more of that. Chris was outstanding regardless of that and an added dimension would take his game up another notch.

Josh Brinkley (2009, 6-6 PF)
Josh is a talented post player. He hit on a short bank shot and used a nice spin move to free himself on the inside. He has good size and quickness in the low post. Josh can put the ball on the floor too. He was a bit inconsistent finishing. He does possess good hands though. Josh also missed a jumper. He rebounded well throughout both games we saw. Josh sure is talented.

Cadarian Raines (2009, 6-8 PF/C)
Cadarian was one of the best players of the day. He showed just about everything. The athletic post had several thunderous dunks. He's comfortable with his back to the basket and loves to spin in either direction and finish. He has great hands and possesses soft touch inside. Cadarian seals off well and is often comfortable passing the ball back out and reposting. He doesn't force shots. He is comfortable finishing off the glass and has a good sense in the post. At times, Cadarian would face up too much after a post spin move and not use his body well enough to shield the defender. That is really getting picky on our end though as there are only little things in his post game that need tweaking. Cadarian has a solid build and he rebounded very well throughout. He became a defensive presence the second time we saw him. He blocked shot after shot in that one. Cadarian is already well polished and he played well throughout the day.

Karron Williams (2009, 6-1 PG/SG)
Karron is a quick handling guard. He really loves to use the pull up jumper and he's quite effective at it. He did a solid job of getting the ball to his talented front court.

Georgia Ballers

Jamie Vaughn (2008, 6-2 SG)
Aside from a talented big man, it's tough to know where to start with this Georgia Ballers squad. They are loaded with mid level prospects. Jamie was on of the more impressive of those. This guard possesses a super quick handle and can change directions in a hurry. In the first game, he used the speed to drive and either draw fouls or dish. The next time around, he showed several other facets of his game. He hit a quick runner in the lane, a floater and even stepped outside for a three pointer.

Eric White (2009, 5-11 PG)
Eric opened up with a three pointer. Later on he was fouled on a drive and hit a very difficult fall away jumper. He's a pretty good ball handler who likes to attack. He'll drive in either direction. He made several nice passes throughout the day. He was inconsistent finishing when he went all the way to the rim. Eric looks to be a solid prospect though.

Anthony Greene (2009, 6-5 SG/SF)
Anthony is yet another talented player for this team. He's a pretty athletic wing with some skills too. He hit a three pointer and also scored on a floater in the lane. The second time we saw him, he had an athletic dunk and mixed in another floater. He handles the ball quite well and is comfortable on the attack.

Vince Martin (2009, 6-3 SG)
This guard can really stroke the basketball. He can hit out to three. Vince willl catch and shoot or pull up and use a quick trigger.  He is a very good pure shooter.

Samir Rolley (2009, 6-0 PG)
Samir is another quick ball handling guard who can get into the lane. The lanky guard caused problems by doing exactly that throughout the contest.

Positive Image

Will Adams (2009, 6-3 SG)
Will has been on a terror this spring. He can flat out stroke the rock and can score in bunches. He has range out to beyond the arc and loves to us a quick pull up jumper. Will is quick off the bounce and can really get into the lane too. He had a nice drive left and dish on one play. He was fouled quite often when going to the rim. Will loves to push the ball and he scored often in transition. He pulls down some rebounds too. His fantastic spring continued this weekend.

Gary Lawrence (2009, 6-7 SF)
Gary is a wing player who can play a little inside and outside. The lefty made a number of different plays. He had a nice drive and finish and later on a drive and dish. He finished on the interior and grabbed some offensive rebounds. Gary also hit a pull up jumper in one game. He rebounded well on both ends of the court. He plays a lot in the high post. He did struggle with turnovers in the game we saw, including one play where he attempted too fancy of a pass. Gary still had a nice outing though.

Sam Prescott (2009, 6-3 SG)
Sam didn't have a big game in the scoring column, but he was very aggressive on the glass. He pulled down and number of boards. Offensively, he did also have a nice drive and finish. On the defensive end, he blocked a shot.

Playaz

Karon Abraham (2009, 5-9 PG)
We saw this talented guard twice and he played very well in both outings. Karon is a quick ball handling guard. He showed a very good pull up game from within the arc or beyond it. He spread several three pointers out over the two contests. He opted mostly to stay on the perimeter, but Karon did finish with contact on one play when he attacked. If he puts together more games like this, a lot more teams will start taking notice. Karon was quite impressive on this day.

Sherrod Wright (2009, 6-4 SG)
Sherrod played pretty well on this day. He's athletic and had several transition dunks. He drove to the rim and was able to convert some. He was inconsistent in that area though. Sherrod likes the pull up jumper and when he's hitting that, he's clearly at his best. He knocked down a few of those today. The strong guard also ran the floor well.

Justin Crosgile (2009, 5-11 SG)
Justin was solid, but not spectacular when we saw him. He hit a couple jumpers, including a mid range one. He wasn't on fire though and also missed a few from the outside. Justin is quick and can get into the lane off the bounce too. He also scored in transition on some occasions. It wasn't the best we've seen, but Justin played a decent game.

Carolina Crusaders

Jaron Lane (2009, 6-4 SG/SF)
Jaron is a lanky forward who put together a nice game. He handles well in the open court. He threw several nice passes throughout the game. He was very active around the basket, including following his own miss and tipping in another shot. Jaron rebounded well throughout. He was blocked after one drive. He also would benefit by showing more of an outside game. Jaron played well regardless.

OB Love (2008, 6-2 SG)
O. B. opened up by showing a nice stroke as he buried a pair of three pointers. He did cool off as the game wore on and could be more consistent from deep. He does like to shoot off the dribble. O. B. is a solid ball handler. In addition to the perimeter game, he used a spin move to score on the inside.

NCA

David Diakite (2008, 6-6 SF)
David can really get out and run, and excels in transition. He's very athletic and finishes well. He had a nice crossover and dish on one play. He attacked the rim some in the half court too. David rebounded well. He has such great natural ability.

Wilbur O' Neal (2008, 6-7 220)
Wilbur was solid as well. The big bodied post player banked home a post shot from fairly deep. He had another bank inside and drew some fouls. He made a nice cut and scored off of a nice feed. Wilbur also rebounded well as usual. He isn't always flashy, but he's pretty productive.

Fairfax Stars

Kabel Moody (2009, 6-3 SG)
Kabel didn't have a big game, but he did prove he can shoot the ball. He opened the second half by burying three from beyond the arc. Kabel was relatively quiet besides that though.
