July is a big month on the traveling circuit.  The Hoop Group Elite Camp is one of the top events.  Action continued from the College of New Jersey on Sunday.  Here is a look at some of the best players we saw on Sunday.

Russ Smith (2009, 5-11 PG/SG)
This smooth guard put together a strong game. A very quick ball handler, Russ gets into the lane when he wants. He banked home a tough runner on one play. On the outside, he knocked down several jumpers. Taking on more of a traditional point guard role, Russ looked to distribute a lot more in this one than we have seen in the past. He had several nice assists after breaking down the defense. He missed a tough fall away jumper, but that was the lone bad shot that Russ took. He had a nice left handed finish on the break too. Russ was aggressive defensively in this contest. He'll need to put on some muscle when he gets to the next level, but regardless he's a playmaker.

Winston Graham (2009, 6-2 SG)
Winston was in a good matchup with Russ Smith. Both guards are similar in that they are playmakers with a good all around game. Winston opened with a nice pass on the break. He threw a few other good passes too. He also got into the lane off the dribble. Winston converted on a banked runner after driving to the left. He shot very well from the outside, including hitting on a very difficult fall away jumper with a defender in his face. Winston did struggle some in the second half, particularly with several turnovers. Russ Smith is probably a little bit better ball handler, but Winston is strong in that area in his own right. Winston was among the best players in the morning session.

Frantz Massenat (2010, 6-3 PG/SG)
Frantz is another quick ball handling guard. He went to coast to coast for a transition basket. He displayed a strong crossover move and the ability to get into the lane. Frantz converted on a nice drive and reverse lay-up. He showed a decent all around game as he buried a pull up jumper from the corner and dished out an assist on another play.

Steve Rennard (2010, 6-0 PG/SG)
This guard is a very sound player. Steve displayed a strong shooting touch as he buried a jumper from the outside. He setup a teammate with a nice pass. Steve also proved to be a tough defender, who grabbed a steal among other things.

James Stukes (2009, 6-7 PF)
James put forth a good game on the boards. He grabbed rebound after rebound on both ends of the court. Because he handles pretty well, James will often look to push the ball. He had a nice drive and left handed finish. He also drew a few fouls. Because he's an undersized forward, we would like to see him develop a jump shot and take his game up another notch. James is still pretty productive though.

Lasan Kormah (2009, 6-4 SG)
Lasan is a talented wing with good size. He can handle the ball and attacked off the dribble. Lasan setup his teammates with a few good feeds on the offensive end.

Brian Freeman (2009, 6-8 SF/PF)
Brian is a skilled big man who is also pretty athletic. The lefty has good hands and nice touch on the interior. He scored several times on the break, including a nice bank shot. He showed his athletic ability on a blocked shot. Brian did miss a post hook, but with a guard dominated team, his touches were limited.

Shawn Lawrence (2008, 6-9 PF/C)
Shawn has a lot of potential, but needs a lot of work too. He had an athletic jam as is often the case when he takes the court. He really struggled finishing though, both on the inside and from the perimeter. The thin big man could get so much more accomplished if he added some muscle.

Malcolm Gilbert (2010, 6-10 PF/C)
In what turned out to be a good battle of raw, but long and athletic prospects, Malcolm battled with Sean Lawrence. Both players blocked each other at various points in the contest. Malcolm scored inside on one play. He did hit a fall away jumper in the second game. Malcolm pulled down quite a few boards at both ends of the court throughout the day. His upside is terrific, but Malcolm has some work to do on the offensive end.

Ed Waite (2009, 6-5 PF)
This sturdy forward from Florida had a strong game. Ed bulldozed his way into the lane on several occasions and was able to use his size to finish in traffic. He can handle the ball some and drive in either direction. Ed also buried a pair of difficult fall away jumpers. He pulled down several rebounds. Ed came up from Florida and did well for himself in this one.

Dom Morris (2009, 6-7 PF)
Dom was solid on this day. He was most effective by taking a fellow big man outside and driving to the basket. Dom can handle the ball and got into the lane several times. He scored right around the goal quite often, including a left handed finish. Dom has good touch and a solid frame. He had a good outing.

Trenity Burdine (2010, 6-6 SF)
This kid seems to have sprouted a couple inches since we last saw him. That may cause his game to rise a few notches too. Trenity is now a very lanky forward with some solid wing skills. He hit on a couple deep jumpers in this one. He also had a put back and grabbed several other rebounds. Like many young players, he does need to get stronger. Trenity looks like he could be a talent on the rise though.

Russell Braithwaite (2009, 6-3 SG)
Russell put together a nice game. He converted several times when going at the basket. He scored on a nice up and under scoop finish. He hit a runner too and he adjusts well in traffic. Russell has a quick handle that allows him to get into the lane. He banked home another shot with contact. He did struggle with his shot as he threw up an airball and missed a fall away jumper. Russell certainly showed some skills in this one.

Daryl McCoy (2009, 6-9 PF/C)
This big man didn't do a lot offensively, but Daryl was strong on the boards. He has a terrific set of hands and combined with his size, make him a force on the glass. Daryl did have a couple buckets around the hoop, but he was inconsistent finishing. His touches were limited though.

Anell Alexis (2009, 6-6 SF)
Anell made a few plays in this game. He ran the floor and scored off a nice scoop finish. He also converted after a good pass from his teammate. Anell had a strong game on the boards too. He didn't score too often though.

Jermaine Peart (2010, 6-3 SF)
Jermaine didn't have a huge game, but stood out with several athletic plays. The bouncy guard had a dunk in transition. He also grabbed a couple rebounds and blocked a shot. He can handle the ball too.

Blake Bozeman (2010, 5-10 PG/SG)
Blake made a couple plays. He hit a jumper early on. He then followed that up with a transition basket. He used a good crossover move to draw a foul. Blake did airball another pull up jumper though.

Adrian Satchell (2009, 6-5 SF)
Adrian really had a tough outing. He handles the ball well and often looked to push after grabbing rebounds. He had a nice coast to coast play. He struggled to convert much else though, including several missed jumpers.

Rayner Moquete (2009, 6-1 PG)
Rayner had a decent showing. He's not super quick, but seems to have a steady handle and good size. He got into the lane and banked home a runner on one play. He missed badly on a jumper in one of his few shot attempts.

Tyreak Johnson (2009, 6-0 PG)
Tyreak opened by burying a jumper. Following that, he really struggled though. His jumper wasn't falling and he didn't setup his teammates. He struggled with a couple turnovers too.
