The Penn Wood High School basketball team is loaded with talent.  They have D-I prospects in both the frontcourt and backcourt.

It all starts with lead guard Tyree Johnson.  He is very quick and handles the ball extremely well.  He can score taking the ball to the hoop or shooting from outside.  Tyree also does a nice job of distributing the basketball.

There is a long list of schools looking at Tyree from a wide variety of conferences.  The schools with interest in Tyree include: La Salle, Drexel, St. Joe’s, Temple, Niagara, Delaware, Penn State, Towson, Rutgers, Seton Hall, Lafayette, St. John’s, Maryland, Nevada and St. Bonaventure.

There is a trio of other players on Penn Wood who are also picking up a good amount of interest.  CAA Insider recently received updates on Duane Johnson, Thomas White and Shawn Oakman from Penn Wood’s head coach Clyde Jones.

Duane Johnson is a lanky athletic wing player who is active around the hoop.  He can handle the ball pretty well and really gets after rebounds.  Most of his points tend to come around the hoop, but he could definitely benefit if he extended his game out more to the perimeter.

Duane has picked up a good deal of interest.  As of right now he is receiving heavy interest from St. Francis (PA), Boston University and Elon.  He is also hearing from James Madison, Siena, Rutgers, Penn State, Temple, and from D-II schools East Stroudsburg and Wheeling.  Duane had previously listed interest from Drexel, Rider and Niagara.

Thomas White is power forward that possesses good size and decent hands.  He does a tremendous job on the boards and can score around the hoop.  Thomas is currently getting looks from La Salle, Niagara, St. Francis (PA), Rider, Drexel, Temple, Ball State and D-II Philadelphia University.

As a 2011 prospect, forward Shawn Oakman is the youngest of this talented group, but that has not prevented him from picking up a high level of interest.  Shawn is currently hearing from St. Joe’s, Temple, La Salle, Drexel, Arizona, Syracuse and Lehigh.

With this amount of talent we are looking for big things from Penn Wood this upcoming season.  We will keep you posted on the recruitment of these players as it progresses.
