ImageEarlier this year Mount St. Mary’s received a verbal commitment from David Golladay out of Dr. Henry A. Wise, Jr. High School in Upper Marlboro, Maryland.  CAA Insider caught up with David for an interview.

CAA Insider: First off, I would like to congratulate you on choosing Mount St. Mary’s.

David Golladay: Thank you very much.

CAA Insider: How did Coach Milan Brown make Mount St. Mary’s seem like the right place for you to continue your basketball career?

David Golladay: He explained to me how they were ready to start making their way to the top and that’s what I'm all about.

CAA Insider: What were some other factors in your decision to play for Mount St. Mary’s?

David Golladay: Playing style is the main thing that attracted me, they play like every team I've played for so far, fast paced with a lot of defensive pressure.

CAA Insider: Did you take an official or unofficial visit to the campus?

David Golladay: Two unofficials.

CAA Insider: What did you do on your visits?

David Golladay: I went to watch a game on one visit, but the first visit was to get a feel for the campus, coaches, and my future teammates.

CAA Insider: What other schools were recruiting you?

David Golladay: Army, Navy, St. Francis (PA), Towson, UMBC, Howard, George Mason, Farleigh Dickinson, and St. Bonaventure.

CAA Insider: Which of these schools did you have offers from?

David Golladay: St. Francis, Towson, UMBC, and Howard.

CAA Insider: When did the Mount St. Mary’s coaching staff first see you play and when did they really start recruiting you hard?

David Golladay: I can't remember the exact tournament but it is when I played for the 16 and under Triple Threat squad and pretty much from the start they told me they would love to have me.

CAA Insider: What role do you see yourself playing in your first year at Mount St. Mary’s?

David Golladay: I can really see myself playing the role as a prime scorer of the bench, something like Jean Cajou from last season.

CAA Insider: What are the strengths of your game?

David Golladay: Getting to the basket and my pull up jump shot.

CAA Insider: What areas of your game do you need to work on the most?

David Golladay: Ball handling and conditioning.

CAA Insider: What was the best game you have ever played in your basketball career, at any level?

David Golladay: I actually have two. My 14 and under AAU team Sky's-The-Limit, I went for 40 against Melo's Choice. The second was my freshman year at Largo where I had 22 points and 20 rebounds, on J.V

CAA Insider: What NBA player, past or present, does your game most resemble?

David Golladay: I'd say Dwayne Wade because of how I always go into the paint looking for contact and my mid-range game.

CAA Insider: Who has had the greatest influence on your basketball career?

David Golladay: My father, he was the one who introduced me to basketball, but he let me always choose if I wanted to play or not.

CAA Insider: What other activities are you interested in other than basketball?

David Golladay: I enjoy golfing and baseball. I'd actually like to play baseball professionally one day.

CAA Insider: Do you know what you are going to major in at Mount St. Mary’s?

David Golladay: Either business or sports medicine.

CAA Insider: Thank you for your time. Good luck next season at Mount St. Mary’s.

David Golladay: Thank you.
