ImageMount St. Mary’s has received their second verbal commitment for the 2009-10 season.  They picked up this commitment from Raven Barber out of Paul VI Catholic High School in Fairfax Virginia.

Raven is an athletic big man with a solid build and soft touch around the rim.  He plays with his back to the basket and is quick in the post, but he also can step out and hit a mid range jumper.

Defensively he has good timing to block shots and can really rebound the ball as well.  In the games we have seen Raven play he did not always get a lot of offensive touches, but he still managed to catch our attention.

We were able to catch up with Raven to ask him a couple questions about his recent commitment; here is what he had to say.

CAA Insider: How did Coach Milan Brown make Mount St. Mary's seem like the right place for you to continue your basketball career?

Raven Barber: He welcomed me like one of the family and he told and taught me what he does with his bigs, and I liked what he taught me because it was useful.

CAA Insider: What were some other factors in your decision to play for Mount St. Mary's?

Raven Barber: Location, playing style, competition, players, the people on the campus, and coaching staff.

CAA Insider: Did you take an official or unofficial visit to the campus?

Raven Barber: One official.

CAA Insider: What did you do on your visit?

Raven Barber: We scrimmaged, went out to eat and hung out with the players.

CAA Insider: What other schools were recruiting you?

Raven Barber: Robert Morris, Quinnipiac, St. Francis (PA), Saint Peters, North Carolina A&T, Niagara, Akron, Central Connecticut State, George Mason and Army.

CAA Insider: Which of these schools did you have offers from?

Raven Barber: Robert Morris, Quinnipiac, Mount St. Mary's, and St. Francis (PA).
