Earlier today we got word from his dad that Brendan Bald had verbally committed to Vermont, soon after visiting the campus this past weekend.

Brendan is a 6-4 wing from Severna Park High School in Maryland.  His older Brother Brad Bald will be playing his freshman year at UNC Wilmington this upcoming season.

In High School and during the AAU season Brendan plays some on the inside and on the outside, although at Vermont he will probably play primarily out on the wing.  Brendan is a skilled player who is very active whenever he is on the court.

Last time we got an update on Brendan, he was looking at the following schools: Old Dominion, Rider, Delaware, Towson, UNC Greensboro, UNC Wilmington, Richmond, George Washington, Hartford, American, Quinnipiac, Charlotte, North Florida, Radford, East Carolina, Vermont, Tulane and Jacksonville.

At that time he held offers from, Rider, North Florida, Vermont, Quinnipiac and Hartford, but according to Brendan’s dad, he was holding quite a few more offers before committing to Vermont.

Here is what Brendan’s father Jeff had to say about Brendan’s commitment.

“Brendan decided to commit to Vermont today after his official visit this weekend.  Brendan had over a dozen offers and felt Vermont was a perfect fit after visiting with the school this weekend.  He meshed real well with the current players and coaches.  He thinks Vermont has something special going on and he is looking forward to being a part of it.”

Vermont appears to be a good fit for Brendan.  Vermont coach Mike Lonergan has been bringing in some quality players that should only contribute to keeping Vermont around the top of the America East standings.
