VELTON JONES (PG) Committed to Robert Morris
Monday, 11 June 2007
Name: Velton Jones
Position: PG
Height: 5-10
Weight: 160
Year: 2008
Class: HS Senior
 North Catholic (PA)
AAU: Team Philly
PPG: 11.3

Velton is a small, but powerful point guard.  He's always on the attack and loves contact.  He is able to use his strong, compact frame to finish.  He is also skilled enough to adjust around the basket.  He has a smooth jump shot and is a solid passer, but he's definately a drive first guard.  Velton is also very aggressive defensively and won't back down from anyone.

Game View/Game Analysis:

Philly USA All-City Basketball Classic (6/2/06)
I love Veltonís game more and more everytime I see him.  Heís just such a tough, prototypical Philly point guard.  He loves to attack and did so frequently in this contest.  He also loves contact and in fact will often initiate it when he drives.  He reminds me a lot of Villanovaís Kyle Lowry in that aspect.  He also does a good job of adjusting his shot after contact.  Jones likes to mix it up defensively and this game was no exception.  He is a bit on the small side, so taller players can take advantage of him at times, but he will make you work for every point though.  He didnít take too many outside shots in this contest, but displayed a beautiful stroke the first couple times I saw him in action.  Velton was named MVP for his team.
