Karon Burton
A big weekend of high school hoops kicked off Friday night at Villanova University.  Among the games was a battle between two Pennsylvania's top team as Jeannette took on Chester.   Here is a look at some of Friday's best players.

Scores:

Hotchkiss 72 Our Savior New American 58
Timber Creek 55 Plymouth-Whitemarsh 52
Chester 80 Jeannette 70
St. Benedict's 77 American Christian 70

Chester

Karon Burton (2008, 5-8 PG)
Karon has another fantastic game.  He did nearly everything.  He opened with a pull up jumper and hit several of those including from three point land.  The speedy guard got into the lane at will against the Jayhawks with his explosive ball handling moves.  He hit some runners and also finished well in traffic as usual.  Karon does a great job of shielding defenders with his body around the hoop.   He plays bigger than he is.  He complimented his scoring with several nice drive and dish plays.   Karon was player of the game with 32 points in the victory.

Kevin Green-Germany (2008, 6-0 PG/SG)
Kevin didn’t score quite like he did the last few times out.  He was solid though in the victory for the balanced Chester squad.  He struggled early with a missed lay-up after a steal as well as missing a jumper.  He came back though to hit a pull up jumper and a very deep three pointer to end the half and extend the lead to 44-29.  Kevin ran the floor a little more in the second half, but overall wasn’t as involved in this game as the last couple.

BJ Robinson (2008, 6-7 PF)
BJ was a key role player in the victory.  The long and athletic forward caused a lot of trouble with his shot blocking ability.  He even blocked all world forward Pryor.  He ran the floor and had several nice reverse lay-ups.  BJ also had a huge game on the boards too.  He finished with 6 points, 6 rebounds and 5 blocks.

St. Benedict's Prep

Scott Machado (2008, 6-1 PG)
Scott is at his best in an up and down game and that’s certainly what the Gray Bees got against American Christian.  He hit a tough fade away after a drive.  He also had several nice drive and dish plays.  Scott scored a transition basket for a three point play.

Timber Creek

Tyler Hines (2008, 6-6 PF)
Tyler had a rather quiet game.  He has a huge game on the boards, but was limited offensively.  He scored on several offensive rebound put backs.  Tyler loves to use spin moves when he does get the ball on the inside.  He had a nice drive from the perimeter and scored on a nice bank inside.  Tyler’s touches were limited in the victory.

Jameer Briggs (2010, 5-9 PG)
This young guard played a solid game for Timber Creek.  We really liked the way he controlled the offense and made good decisions with the ball.  Too often, young guards are talented but erratic.  Jameer opened up with a pair of three pointers and has a pretty smooth stroke.  He’s a quick ball handler who can change directions. He uses a lot of crossovers and spin moves.  Jameer did a good job of distributing the ball.  He capped the game by making three of four free throws.  He finished with 14 points.

Jeannette

Moziah Harris (2009, 5-10 PG/SG)
Moziah opened with a jumper.  The left-handed guard was very active around the hoop.  He had several offensive rebound putbacks.  He has a nice set of hands and finishes well around the hoop.  Moziah later buried another jumper.  He also threw a beautiful crisp pass.  Moziah rebounded well too.  While he showed some solid guard skills, he did most of his damage inside where he won’t be very effective at the next level.  He finished with 18 points and 10 rebounds.

Plymouth-Whitemarsh

Matt Labick (2008, 6-3 SG)
After torching the nets at the Jameer Nelson Classic, Matt really struggled in this contest.  He fired up three pointer after three pointer, but rarely converted.  He did have a nice drive and dish play and hit a pull up jumper.  Matt did miss two huge transition lay-ups too though.
