The "live" period is a busy time.  Hoop Group ran yet another event on Friday and Saturday, with the Reebok Summer Classic East at Rider University.  CAA Insider was on hand for Saturday's action.  Here is a look at some of the top players from the event.

Shore Shots

Carl Baptiste (2009, 6-8 240 PF) Committed to St. Joe's
Carl played pretty well at the Reebok All American Camp and his good play continued in this one.  He showed his versatility as he opened by hitting a three pointer.  He also drove to the hoop from the wing and he attacks off the dribble pretty well for his size.  On the inside, he missed a deep turn around jumper.  Carl also missed on several other face up jumpers.  He took a few more shots from the outside than wed like to see.  He did rebound well on the inside though.  Hes certainly a solid pickup for the Hawks.

Chaz Williams (2009, 5-8 PG) Committed to Hofstra
Chaz is such a terrific player.  The small lead guard is a blur with the ball in his hands.  He loves to attack and can score or distribute the ball.  Chaz showed great vision with a couple nice passes to his teammates.  He hit on a tough floater in traffic and scored with another floater after a spin move.  He played the passing lanes often and came up with several steals.  Chaz is quite a talent and his quickness and understanding of the game will cause a lot of problems at the next level.

O.D. Anosike (2009, 6-8 PF)
O.D. had a strong game.  The extremely athletic forward gets off the ground in a hurry.  On the inside, he had a tip-in and banked home another shot.  O.D. is a terrific rebounder and he pulled down a great one handed board among his numerous rebounds.  He has fantastic hands that help him on the glass.  O.D. can handle the ball pretty well too.  He did miss a post hook shot on one of his few back to the basket shots.  Nevertheless, it was a strong game for O.D.

Lance Brown (2009, 6-2 SG) Committed to Fordham
In the past, weve mostly just seen athletic plays from Lance.  He showed a great all around game in this one though.  He hit a three pointer early.  He followed that with a transition runner and then converted a tough fall away jumper after an offensive rebound.  Lance can handle the ball and was very aggressive in this one.  He drove left several times and finished or dished the ball off for an assist.  Lance also banked home a shot on the inside with a foul.  He played a strong game.

Stephen Spinella (2008, 6-5 SF/PF)
Steve opened up this game very strong.  He stepped outside and hit on a three pointer.  The good sized wing knocked down another jumper and was fouled in transition.  He also scored twice in transition with fouls.  Steve missed a couple jumpers, but it was still a good game.

Josh Vital (2008, 6-5 SF/PF)
Josh was quite impressive on this balanced squad. It was his first time playing with this team, but he played well off the bench. Josh is a lanky and athletic forward who was tough inside. He hit a bank shot. He had another one after a spin move in the post. Josh showed he can attack from the perimeter too. He had a nice drive and finger roll finish. He's quite explosive and can handle the ball as well. Josh grabbed several boards and blocked a shot too. His game is very similar to OD Anosike (see above). He's a little small and not quite to OD's level, but Josh still looked very good.

New Heights

Jamee Jackson (2009, 6-8 PF/C)
Jamee made a few plays but was really outmatched by Mouphtoua Yarou.  Jamee hit on a nice short face up jumper.  He grabbed a couple rebounds and blocked a shot.  He was also blocked after one drive.  Jamee did have a couple other nice drives though.  Hes had a nice summer, but this was his toughest game.

Jovan Mitchell (2009, 6-5 PF)
Jovan made a couple nice plays.  The bulky forward is very powerful around the hoop.  He scored on a very athletic jam.  He also followed up a miss for another basket.

Jin Hong (2009, 6-5 PF)
Jin is a big and long wing player.  He made a couple plays in this one.  He hit jumper from the perimeter.  He then had an athletic follow up.

Westchester Hawks 16s

Brian Voelkel (2010, 6-4 SF/PF)
Brian is a skilled forward who can play inside or outside.  He grabbed a ton of rebounds, particularly early on in the contest.  He has good hands which help him on the boards.  He also drew several fouls on the inside while posting up and finishing inside.  He then showed some of his wing skills.  Brian drove to the hoop and dunked on one play.  He stepped outside and hit a three pointer on another.  He can also drive from the perimeter.  Brian missed several from the outside, including an airball.  He was streaky from the perimeter.  Brian had a good all around game though.

Jordan Bronner (2010, 6-0 PG)
Jordan got off to a strong start in this one.  He had a couple drive and dish plays.  He followed that up with a pull up jumper.  He did hit another pull up jumper, but Jordan was inconsistent from the perimeter.  He has a solid handle, but isnt super quick.

Kyle Francis (2010, 6-8 PF)
This young lefty is very long and athletic.  He is also very raw.  Kyle had blocked a shot.  He missed on the inside and failed to convert on a couple jumpers.  He did grab a couple rebounds.  We would like to see Kyle play inside more.

Will Bartlett (2010, 6-7 SF/PF)
Will is a big wing player.  He can handle the ball and get into the lane some.  He hit on a three pointer from the outside.  The skilled forward does need to get stronger.  Will would also benefit by playing inside more.

Kyheim Hall (2010, 6-3 SG)
Kyheim is a guard who was very aggressive attacking the rim.  Early on he had a couple nice drive and finishes.  He also grabbed an offensive rebound.
