AAU action continued at Coaches vs. Cancer Quaker City Shootout on Saturday at Temple University.  Recruit Recon was on hand to take in the action.  Here is a look at some of the top players throughout the day.

Baltimore Assault

Wayne Sparrow (2010, 6-3 PG/SG) committed to Richmond
Wayne had a terrific game in the afternoon session.  He buried three early three pointers.  He hit another three pointer later on.  Wayne also had a steal and finger roll finish.  This big guard can play either the point or off guard position.  He possesses good size and is quite athletic too.  He showed good athletic ability too with a pair of blocked shots.  Wayne looks to be a good pickup for the Richmond Spiders.

Brandon Gibson (2009, 6-6 SF/PF)
Brandon had another fine game.  On the inside, he scored after quick spin moves a couple times.  He used those moves going in either direction.  He had a good outing on the glass.  He blocked a shot too.  Brandon even showed some decent ball handling as he drove and drew a foul.  He is a talented interior player.

Lamont Huggins (2011, 6-7 PF)
Lamont played well again.  He showed more perimeter skills than he did last night.  He opened by hitting a deep face up jumper.  He also attacked some off the dribble.  He did airball another face up jumper though.  Lamont crashed the boards some more and had a pair of blocks as well.

Philly Pride

Tyrone Garland (2010, 6-1 PG/SG)
Tyrone made some nice plays, but it wasn't his best day.  He made a couple nice passes throughout the day, but also struggled with some turnovers.  He was able to get his pull up jumper going and hit from three.  Tyrone struggled with his runner in the lane though.

Zaahir Allen (2010, 6-2 SG)
Zaahir had a solid second game.  He opened with a runner.  He buried a pair of pull up jumpers.  Zaahir has good size which makes him effective in the lane.  He had a nice drive and dish play.  He missed a couple three pointers.

Tyree Johnson (2010, 5-9 PG)
Tyree was solid.  He attacked some and drew a couple nice passes.  He hit a three pointer, but was rather quiet in the scoring column.  He wasn't overly aggressive in the easy wins that his team had.

Sherman Blanford (2010, 6-5 PF)
Sherman had a strong game on the boards.  He scored several times on putbacks.  He also converted on a post hook shot.  He had one nice drive, but didn't do much else from the perimeter.  Sherman would benefit by showing more from the outside.

Baltimore Assault 16s

Greg Lewis (2011, 6-9 PF/C)
Greg is a fantastic looking young post prospect.  He's already fairly strong and possesses good hands and quick moves.  In the post, he hit a fall away jumper, had a nice spin move and finish, and converted on several putbacks.  Greg is athletic and can handle the ball too.  He's already a pretty good passer.  He grabbed quite a few rebounds and blocked a shot.  Greg has all the makings of an outstanding player.

Terard Ansar (2011, 6-4 SG/SF)
Terard is another impressive young player.  He showed the ability to shoot from deep.  He opened with a three pointer and followed that up with another jumper.  Terard is quick off the dribble.  He scored on a fine adjustment in traffic after breaking down the defense.  The  wing flashed athletic ability on a dunk.  He has a bright future as well.

Jersey Shore Warriors

Matt Lopez (2010, 6-10 C)
Matt is a big man who showed some skills.  He had a nice spin move and bank shot down low.  He has good hands and decent footwork.  Matt does a good job of keeping the ball high and finishing around the rim.  He can put the ball on the floor for a couple dribbles too.  He's a decent athlete, although not someone who is going to leap out of the building.  Matt isn't a dominant post player yet, but he looked good for the Warriors in this one.

Jack O'Neill (2010, 6-6 SF/PF)
This skilled forward had a nice game.  Jack hit a trio of shots from behind the arc.  He also scored on several offensive rebound putbacks.  He has good size for a wing and is a nice passer too.

Cameron Gunter (2010, 6-8 PF)
Cameron was solid on the inside as well.  He had most of his impact on the boards at both ends of the floor.  He was fouled twice around the rim and knocked down all four free throws with a smooth stroke.  Cameron threw a good pass too.  The thin big man could benefit by adding some weight.

Bucks County Hawks

Isaiah Baker (2011, 6-7 PF)
Isaiah proved to be a very productive post player.  He's not very fluid, but has a good understanding of how to play down low and he showed that he's an effective finisher.  He had a beautiful spin left and hit a fall way jumper on one occasion.  Isaiah showed the ability to put on the floor a bit too.  He doesn't handle the ball in the open court, but did a good job of taking a few dribbles on the inside and finishing at the rim.  He's not the quickest or most athletic player, but Isaiah knows how to pick his spots.  He has a decent frame already with the ability to get even stronger.  He blocked a couple shots with good timing and made a nice pass to a cutter later on.  Isaiah had a strong game for the Bucks County Hawks.

John Raymon (2011, 6-4 SF)
John looked pretty good at the Playaz Spring Fling and made several nice plays in this one too.  He's quick off the bounce and has good size.  He attacked a little more than he did a few weeks ago.  John had a fine drive and scoop finish.  He used a spin move to convert in the post.  He banked home a shot after a good feed.  John is fairly athletic too as he showed on a transition dunk.  He makes nice, crisp passes from the outside as well.

Sonny Hill Seniors

Devonte Newbill (2010, 6-3 PG/SG)
DJ hit a three pointer and a pull up jumper.  On the break, he had a transition dunk and made a nice pass.  He had another good pass later on.  He turned the ball over a few times though.  DJ hit a couple shots, but really struggled with his pull up jumper on in this game.

Jerrod Johnson (2010, 6-3 SG)
Jerrod put together a solid game.  He attacked off the dribble and finished at the rim on one play.  He hit a floater in the lane too.  Jerrod had a putback on the inside and was fouled to convert an old fashioned three point play.  From the perimeter, he hit a jumpe.

Positive Image

Warren Gillis (2010, 6-2 SG)
Warren made a few plays on the day.  He had a drive and finish.  He scored on a putback too.  He was fouled on a jumper and converted the free throws.  Warren did struggle with a few turnovers and couldn't find his jumper.

Keystone Blazers (Blount)

Al Blount (2010, 5-8 PG)
Al is a small, but quick lead guard.  He can attack some off the dribble, but did struggle a bit with turnovers.  He also didn't score much while going at the rim.  He proved to be a pretty good three point shooter.  Al hit a couple from behind the arc off the dribble, including one from very deep.  He made a decent pass here and there, but would benefit by setting up his teammates more.
