Maryland Guard with a Pair of Offers

Several weeks ago a talented Baltimore Assault AAU team took home the championship at the Coaches vs. Cancer Quaker City Shootout.  The Assault squad had several impressive players.  Among them was 6-3 junior guard Dante Holmes from St. Frances Academy (MD).  Dante was a key player as the Assault knocked off a Philly Pride team in their own backyard.

Dante is a guard with good size and an array of skills to match it.  He's strong and can finish with contact.  He runs the floor well too.  He isn't the smoothest ball handler, but has the ability to get into the lane off the dribble.  Dante is then able to utilize his size in traffic.

Dante showed the ability to shoot the ball from the perimeter out to three point land.  Perhaps most impressive for this combo guard was his unselfish play.  He can score, but really looked for his teammates and made some nice passes too.

Dante had a solid season at St. Frances.  In the semifinals of the 49th annual Alhambra Catholic Invitational Tournament, he scored a career high 34 points in a win over DeMatha.  He followed that up with a solid 18 points in a championship game loss to Gonzaga.

Dante appears to be a good all around talent.  He looks like he could play either guard position effectively at the next level.  Colleges have begun to take notice to this.  Thus far, Dante tells us he holds offers from George Mason and Loyola (MD).  Plenty of other schools are already involved, including Temple, UMASS, Navy, Kent State, Marquette, Miami and several others.  As the spring and summer role along, Dante should end up picking up more offers.
