The Class of 2010 won't go down as one of Philadelphia's best ever, but as always there is still a crop of talented guards.  It's definitely the place to go though if you're a mid major program looking to fill up your backcourt.  Among the talented guards in the City of Brotherly Love is South Philadelphia's point guard Deshon Minnis.

This past season, Deshon led the Rams to a state playoff berth and a 16-12 record.  For the season, he averaged 15.4 points per game.  He was named to the First Team All Public League Team.  He also recently put up 11 points in the Rasual Butler All-City Classic.

Deshon is a quick point guard who really loves to attack the hoop.  He displays great body control and is a very good finisher.  He has a fine crossover move and the ability to change directions quickly.  He can dish off and setup teammates or shoot it from the outside, but Deshon is clearly at his best on the attack.  The playmaking guard works his magic in the lane.

Recruit Recon recently caught up with Deshon to get an update on his recruitment.  Thus far, he tells us he holds offers from Atlantic 10 programs La Salle and St. Bonaventure.  He is also hearing from Drexel, Rider, Temple, Niagara, Robert Morris, Penn State, Army, Binghamton, Nebraska, Oregon State, Georgetown and Arkansas-Little Rock.  As with many prospects, look for more offers to flow once college coaches can see Deshon live during the month of July.
