At this time last year, Cameron Gunter of Ridley High School was a relative unknown beyond the Philadelphia area.  The talented forward has used a solid summer with the Jersey Shore Warriors to attract a slew of attention from all throughout the east coast.

The big man first made a strong impression on us earlier this spring when we attended an open gym at Ridley High School.  Cameron is a wiry player with good athletic ability.  He works hard and has a great impact on the boards and scores a lot of his points on putbacks.  He has a fine set of hands.  On that day last spring, Cameron displayed quick post footwork and a soft touch as he showed more offensive game than we've seen during other events.  The bouncy big man can block shots on the defensive end too.

As is typical with post players, Cameron didn't get a lot of touches this summer with his AAU team or at camps, so he had to make his own opportunities.  He did a find job of just that.  At the Hoop Group Elite Camp in early July, he was voted into the Senior All Star Game.  Cameron does need to get stronger, but he has great upside.

Cameron's fine play has attracted the attention of several programs, including some academic powerhouses.  Thus far, Cameron tells us he has taken unofficial visits to Penn, Drexel and UMBC.  Potential visits to Holy Cross and possibly Northeastern are the the horizon as well.  In addition to those schools, he is being recruited by Cornell, Princeton, Iona and West Chester.  He mentioned that several other schools have been in contact too.

Cameron has made great progress over the last year.  If that continues, look for big things from him this coming season and on into his college career.
