Friday, 25 June 2010

ImagePalm Beach Post: The Milwaukee Bucks selected Port St. Lucie graduate and Virginia Commonwealth forward Larry Sanders with the 15th overall pick in the NBA Draft Thursday night.

Sanders is a 6-foot-11 forward who'll help bolster a front court that's lacking strong bodies behind Andrew Bogut. Milwaukee was looking to replenish its center-forward positions with veteran Kurt Thomas becoming a free agent this summer and Dan Gadzuric gone in a trade to Golden State earlier this week.

Sanders averaged 14.4 points, 9.1 rebounds and 2.6 blocks per game in his junior year at VCU and is known for his defensive abilities, winning his conference's Defensive Player of the Year award twice.

Sanders is second all-time in blocks (277) for VCU, third in double-doubles (28) and fourth in rebounds (776).
