Petey Balls commits to Northern Illinois |

 Indy Star: Lawrence North senior Petey Balls committed to Northern Illinois on Friday, less than a week after completing this official visit to the school.
Balls, a 6-1 point guard, said he liked the idea of starting under a “new program” with first-year coach Mark Montgomery, a longtime Michigan State assistant, at the helm.
“It’ll be fun jumping into something new there,” Balls said. “(Montgomery) sees me running the team, being the point guard and the leader.”
Balls said he was also getting some interest at different times from Evansville, IUPUI, Mercer, Southern Illinois-Edwardsville and several other Division II programs, including Grand Valley State (Mich.).
