Now that 2011 is in our rearview mirror and seniors now have a nice sampling of games to be evaluated it is time to update our 2012 Recruit Recon Top 100.

Our last update in August featured Andre Drummond as the top ranked player in the 2012 class. With the decision of Drummond to re-classify to the 2011 class and enroll at Connecticut, the number one spot went to the second ranked player Mitch McGary of Brewster Academy (NH). With the stellar play that McGary displayed to end the summer it was not a hard decision to slide him up a spot.

This go around we felt a need to shake things up a bit. We can not deny any longer that Shabazz Muhammad of Bishop Gorman (NV) is the best player in the 2012 class. With dominating efforts at the City of Palms and at Beach Ball, Muhammad most likely will stay at the top spot of the rankings for the remainder of the year. He just flat out knows how to put the ball in the basket regardless of the competition.

The do-it-all prospect Kyle Anderson out of St. Anthony's (NJ) moved up to the second spot due to his overall upside and the fact that he has the ability to play four positions on the court. The previous number one, Mitch McGary fell into the number three spot followed by the ever progressing big man Isaiah Austin out of Grace Prep (TX). Rounding out the top five is Brandon Ashley of Findlay Prep (NV). The only new addition to the top ten is arguably the toughest competitor in the class in Oklahoma State commit Marcus Smart out of Marcus High School (TX).

All evaluations and rankings are provided by N.D. Kendrick based on skill set measuring and statistical analysis. N.D.
