Khem Birch Commits to UNLV
Monday, 09 January 2012

unlv.jpgTheRecruitScoop: Just weeks after transferring out of Pittsburgh, Canadian freshman Khem Birch has made his college decision.

On Monday night, the former McDonald’s All American made his verbal commitment to UNLV after taking an official visit with his mother, Wendy Sparks, and adviser, Mike George. Birch chose the Runnin’ Rebels over Florida and New Mexico State – schools he visited.

“I really like UNLV,” he said. “It was a very tough decision but UNLV is a good fit for me because of the coaches, players and facilities. I will be able to train during my time off. Also, I can develop under a great, young coach in Dave Rice. He and the entire staff made me feel very comfortable in Las Vegas.”

While on his trip, Birch – a 6-foot-9 freshman power forward – was paired with Mike Moser – a 6-foot-8 forward – who Birch believes he plays similar to. Moser, who is doing extremely well in Rice’s run and gun system, is averaging 14 points and 11 rebounds per game this season.
