mlive: As a Michigan State player, Mark Montgomery wasn't a star, but he was a solid starting point guard contributing on three NCAA Tournament teams in the early 1990s.

Now Northern Illinois' first-year head coach, Montgomery reached back home to Detroit to find a point guard that hopefully can emulate some of his coach's on-court success.

5-11 Detroit Consortium senior Travon Baker , soon to be a three-time Class C all-stater, has committed to the Huskies.

Baker led Consortium to the state semifinals last year, and this season oversees the most talented roster in Class C.
