Seahawks snag a veteran guard
Wednesday, 11 April 2012

ImageStar News Online: UNCW coach Buzz Peterson landed a vocal leader for his backcourt. And if Tyree Graham can stay healthy, the Seahawks could have a steal.

Graham, who spent the last two years injured at Rutgers, gave Peterson a verbal commitment Tuesday. He’s graduating from Rutgers with a degree in Labor Relations on May 13th, and will be eligible to play immediately, in the 2012-13 season.

A Durham native, Graham credited his relationship with UNCW assistant coach Andre Gray as well as the year he spent playing for Michael Jordan’s brother, James, at Village Christian in Fayetteville.

“I’ve known Coach Gray since the ninth or 10th grade and always remember him as someone who cared about me as a kid,” Graham said. “I didn’t think I would get to this point again, I’m going to show him as a good friend, that I admire his loyalty. Also Coach Buzz Peterson is a great coach. I know what he stands for.”
