All Eyes on U Hoops: “He is one of the best kids I have ever coached in terms of character, being a good teammate and putting the work in needed to achieve in the classroom.” Ypsilanti head coach Steve Brooks said about his 2012 6’3 point guard Derrick (DJ) Richardson .

DJ committed to Central Michigan and became the first commitment for new coach Keno Davis. Derrick liked the idea of being a part of what Coach Davis is going to try to do at CMU.

“He talked to me about making a charge there, and I wanted to be part of that change.” Richardson said.

Although Coach Davis is new to Mt. Pleasant it is not to DJ. “I’ve got a chance to be up to campus a few times and really like the school.” Richardson said. “I like the campus and it has what I want to major in, sports management.” Richardson added “So when I talked to Coach Davis and he offered me, I jumped at the chance.”
