Lubbock Online: DeShon Minnis will transfer to Rhode Island, the former Texas Tech guard announced on his Twitter page Thursday.

The move to the East Coast means Minnis, who is from the Philadelphia area, will continue his college career closer to home.

Minnis averaged 3.1 points per game last season. He scored a career-high 12 points in Tech’s season opening win against Troy, and he scored 10 in a loss to Oklahoma State in the first round of the Big 12 Conference tournament.
