St. Christophers: Senior point guard Jermaine Johnson committed to Canisius College in Buffalo, NY, Monday.

The Golden Griffins play NCAA Division I basketball in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference.

Johnson averaged 20 points, four assists and five steals this season on his way to Prep League player of the year, second-team all-state and third-team All-Metro honors.

The 5-10 guard received interest from several Division I schools and had numerous Division II schools eager to gain a commitment. But the Golden Griffins, new coach Jim Baron and his coaching staff were too good to pass up.
