World-Herald: Walter Pitchford, who played basketball as a freshman last season at Elite Eight qualifier Florida, is transferring to Nebraska.

A source with knowledge of the situation said the 6-foot-10, 221-pound forward from Grand Rapids, Mich., committed Saturday afternoon during his official visit to NU.

Pitchford played just 22 minutes in 13 games last season, scoring six points and grabbing four rebounds. At prep school in East Lansing, Mich., Pitchford averaged 17.4 points, 9.5 rebounds and 4.5 blocks.

“They have great facilites, a great staff, great players who just want to work hard and have a motor,” Pitchford told World-Herald recruiting partner HuskersIllustrated.com. “When I was there I felt comfortable and everybody made me feel like home.”
