Dempsey already adding to Bearcats roster

ImagePress Connects: Binghamton University men's basketball coach Tommy Dempsey wasted no time in securing in his first recruit.

Dempsey was introduced as the Bearcats' coach Thursday, and Jordan Reed, a guard from Wissahickon High School in Ambler, Pa., confirmed Saturday that he gave a verbal commitment to the basketball program last week.

Reed, a 6-foot-4 205-pound scoring machine, said he was well aware of BU's recent struggles, having won just nine games in two seasons. Reed said that only increased his interest, saying, "It made me want to come more because I feel like Binghamton can be a nice place in a couple years. That can be a good situation."

Reed, a second-team Pennsylvania All-State Boys Basketball Team selection, scored an average of 23.9 points per game as he led Wissahickon to a 22-6 record last season. He was named the boys basketball Player of the Year by the Suburbanonesports.com, which covers the Greater Philadelphia area.
