Loyola University Chicago is off to nice start for their 2013 recruiting class with two commitments already on board.

They received a very early commitment all the way back in August of 2011 from Quentin Payne out of St. Charles North in Illinois.  More recently though they landed Jordan Pickett  out of Pike High School in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Since we already had the chance to interview Quentin Payne about his commitment, we wanted to learn more about Jordan Pickett's decision.

In order to do so, we reached out to Jordan directly and he filled us in.
On why he felt Loyola (Chicago) was the right place for him.

“Loyola had everything I was looking for, a big city that could be some fun and also help me with what I'm trying to major in, digital communications.  It had a great campus also, with being right by the beach on Lake Michigan and then of course the bball part of it.

“Being recruited by Jason Gardner really made it worth while to commit there, as well as the whole coaching staff made it worth it. They made me feel like I was at home and had a connection that no other college really could do and we all want to rebuild the franchise at the school so it can become the team that it was when they won the national championship back in the day.”

Jordan also went into a little more detail about his unofficial visit to Loyola's campus.

“I took a tour that was very detailed around the whole campus and the bball side of the campus also.”

The only other visit he went on was to Western Michigan.  On that visit he also toured around the campus and played in an open gym.

While he had one more visit lined up to Ohio University he did not need to take it as he had already made up his mind that Loyola (Chicago) was where he wanted to be.

When it came down to his final decision Jordan informed us that he chose the Ramblers over Western Michigan and Winthrop.

Overall he held offers from Winthrop, Ohio University, Ball State, Robert Morris and Western Michigan.
