Recently I had opportunity to engage in a Q&A Interview with Walkersville Lady Lions Class of 2014 post player Lana Long.

Lana is a slick footed 5'11'' post player with an exceptional skill set. She is continuing to work on her outside game to become a better all around player everyday.

Q&A Interview with Lana Long....

Q. What high school do you attend and where is it located?
A. Walkersville High School in Walkersville, Maryland

Q. Who is your favorite basketball player/team (ex: NBA or College)?
A. I don't have a specific favorite team. I do enjoy watching UNC because I
attended basketball camp there.

Q. Lana describe your style of play (ex.: inside, outside or both)
A. Mostly inside, but I've been trying to expand my range to help improve my game
and skill.

Q. How long have you played organized basketball? And at what age did you start?
A. I've been playing basketball going on 9 years. I started when I was in third
grade, so I was about 8 or 9 years old.

Q. What do you do before games? Do you have a ritual (ex. listening to a song etc.)?
A. I don't really have any crazy rituals. The only thing I don't like doing is
eating a meal right before a game.

Q. What are your goals for this season with it being your last as a high school athlete?
A. Our team goal has always been to make it to states. Saying that, my goal is to
continue to work hard at practice and always try my best in every play.

Q. Do you play any other sports besides basketball?
A. I use to, but I don't anymore.

Q. What would be your ideal situation in going to a D1 program?
A. I would love to be able to contribute to the success of the team.

Q. Is there a specific style of play you would like to be part of in college?
A. A fast paced tradition styled offense. I like running the floor and to keep the
game moving.

Q. What are your current year stats (13'-14') and last seasons?
A. All current and former stats are on maxpreps.com

Q. Have you received any awards for basketball?
A. Offensive MVP team award 2012-2013, All-MVAL Piedmont second team 2012-2013,
Named one of the top 5 in rebounding in the MVAL division, North Carroll
all-tournament team honors.

Q. Do you have your eyes set on any particular college program?
A. Mount St. Mary's, UNC Wilmington, Alderson Broaddus University.

Q. Do you currently have offers from programs? Do you have a lot of interest from programs? If so please list.
A. I've had interest from D1 programs such as Mount St. Mary's, UNC Wilmington, Cornell,
and Campbell. Also many D2 and D3 but I am not committed to any one school yet.

Q. Of the schools with interest who are your top choices?
A. There are aspects of all of them that I really like. For instance Mount St.
Mary's is close to home, UNC Wilmington has nice weather, Alderson Broaddus Univ. has my major and I
have many family friends close to the area.

Q. Do you have a specific area of study you are looking for in a college?
A. Sports Med./ Athletic Training

Q. Say you were offered a scholarship today would you accept it? And why?
A. I would accept if I felt it was a good fit for me, and I could benefit
academically and athletically.

Q. How big of a part will your parents play in selecting a college program
for you to continue academics and sports?
A. Their role isn't very big. If I'm happy and set on a school, I know they will
support me 100%.

That concludes my Q & A Interview with Class of 2014 prospect Lana Long. Lana is a very soft spoken and intelligent young lady.
Keep your eyes open for this young lady as any program that gets her will be greatful she decided on that program.
