I had the opportunity to do a Q&A Interview with Class of 2015 prospect Tanner Eubank. Tanner is a 6'3'' guard from Paw Paw (MI) HS. The kid is an exceptional talent and a knack for scoring. He carries a very good GPA and has a very high basketball IQ.

Q&A Interview with Tanner Eubank.....

Q. What high school do you attend and where is it located?
A. Paw Paw High School in Paw Paw, MI
Q. Who is your favorite basketball player (ex: NBA or College)?
A. I don't really have one favorite player, but I have a few guys that I watch and
try to incorporate into my game some of the stuff that makes them successful. The
main players that I study are Jimmer Fredette, Matthew Dellavedova, Stephen Curry,
and Katin Reinhardt.
Q. Tanner describe your style of play...
A. I would compare the way that I play to a mixture of Jimmer Fredette and Matthew
Dellavedova. Not saying I'm as good as them or anything, but I'm similar to Jimmer
in that I can shoot it well, I can use my crossover to create space to get a shot
off from 3 or to get by my man for a midrange jumper, or get to the basket, draw
fouls and finish strong. The similarities to Dellavedova include my ability to come
off ball screens and make the right read, how I play strong with the ball, and
attracting attention from the help side defenders and creating for teammates when
the defense collapses. On defense, I keep my man in front of me on the ball and off
the ball I focus on being in the correct position to help my teammates if they get
beat. I concentrate on the ball, but still see my man. When a shot goes up, I box
out and go get it.
Q. How long have you played organized basketball?
A. I think I started to play in YMCA leagues in kindergarten and started playing aau
in fourth grade.
 Q. What do you do before games? Do you have a ritual (ex. listening to a
song etc.)?
A. Right before we go out for warm-ups, I say a prayer. It calms me down, helps me
focus, and reminds me that God is on my side.
Q. Do you play any other sports besides basketball?
A. No, I don't play any other sports.
Q. What would be your ideal situation in going to a D1 program?
A. The ideal fit for me would be a program with a family-type atmosphere where I
would enjoy those four years of my life.
Q. Is there a specific style of play you would like to be part of?
A. I want to play in a system that likes to shoot the three and gives a lot of trust
and freedom on offense to the players that have earned it.
Q. What are your current year stats (13'-14') and last seasons?
A. 2013-14 (jr year): 23 ppg, 8 rpg, 4 apg.
2012-13 (soph year on varsity): 15 ppg, 8 rpg, 5.5 apg
Q. Have you received any awards for basketball?
A. 2011-12 (Freshman on Varsity):
Class B all freshman team- first team
2012-13 (Soph):
Detroit Free Press All State Honorable Mention
Class B all soph first team
Named a top 100 player in the state by the Detroit free press
Q. Do you have your eyes set on any particular college program?
A. No, I'm keeping all of my options open right now.
Q. Do you have a specific area of study you are looking for in a college?
A. As of right now, I'm not completely sure of what I want to go into in college. I
have a few ideas, but I'm still undecided.
Q. Do you currently have offers from programs? Do you have a lot of
interest from programs? If so please list.
A. No offers yet. Schools showing interest are Oakland, CMU, Elon, Houston Baptist,
Lipscomb, Wofford, Portland, San Diego, SE Missouri State, Utah State, USC Upstate,
College of Charleston, Holy Cross, Grand Canyon, Lafayette, Loyola MD, Cornell, and
The Citadel.
Q. Of the schools with interest who are your top choices?
A. I really can't say that I like one better than another right now because I
haven't visited all of the schools and experienced what each program is about.
Q. Say you were offered a scholarship today would you accept it? And why?
A. No, I would take some time to sit down with my family for a few days and really
decide if that school was the best place for me.
Q. How big of a part will your parents play in selecting a college program
for you to continue academics and sports?
A. I've always been close with my parents, so their opinions will weigh heavily on
my college decision. But I also know that it is ultimately my decision and they will
support me in whatever path I take.
That concludes my Q&A Interview with Tanner Eubank of Paw Paw, Michigan.
