ImageCentral Connecticut State received a commitment from forward Tamir Johnson out of Imhotep Charter in Pennsylvania.  CAA Insider caught up with Tamir for a Q & A session.

CAA Insider: First off, I would like to congratulate you on choosing CCSU.

CAA Insider: What is your height and weight?

Tamir Johnson: 6'6 220

CAA Insider: What impressed you most about Coach Dickenman and his staff that led to your decision to play ball at CCSU?

Tamir Johnson: When coach D came to my school he made it seem like I was already going to CCSU.  When I was working out he yelled at me and I did not even commit yet. Even though coaches and players are supposed to make you feel youíre needed, they made me feel like I was a player and not a recruit. Basically they kept it real.

CAA Insider: What were some other factors in your decision to play for CCSU?

Tamir Johnson: Playing time and I wanted to get out of Philadelphia, and they have someone to help you every step of the way.

CAA Insider: What other schools were actively recruiting you?

Tamir Johnson: A lot of Mid-major Division 1 (schools).

CAA Insider: What role do you see yourself playing in your first year at Central Connecticut State?

Tamir Johnson: Rebounding, blocking shots, playing defense, and scoring when I have the chance.

CAA Insider: What are the strengths of your game?

Tamir Johnson: I can rebound very well, post play is good, and playing defense on and off the ball.

CAA Insider: What aspects of your game need the most improvement?

Tamir Johnson: My shot and ball handling.   I can put it on the floor and push it but I donít have a Jermaine Washington (handle).

CAA Insider: Who is the best player you have played against? Who is best player youíve had to guard (if different)?

Tamir Johnson: Syracuse bound Donte Green, Rick Jackson, and Memphis bound Marcus and Markief Morris. Dayton Bound Chris Wright was the best player I had to guard.

CAA Insider: How did you fare in that match up?

Tamir Johnson: I won the inside battle.

CAA Insider: What player, past or present, does your game most resemble?

Tamir Johnson: Tamir Johnson

CAA Insider: What other activities are you interested in other than basketball?

Tamir Johnson: Soccer, and football.

CAA Insider: Do you know what you are going to major in at CCSU?

Tamir Johnson: Athletic training.

CAA Insider: Thank you for your time and good luck at CCSU.
