CAA Insider name change and website update
Sunday, 01 March 2009

ImageOn May 17, 2006 we launched CAA Insider with the idea that we would cover all things (news, game results, etc.) CAA basketball with a heavy emphasis on recruiting and player personnel.

As the years have gone on and the site has progressed, we realized that our real strength was the recruiting aspect of the site. Other media outlets covered game results and other news more effectively than we were able to, so eventually we stopped covering game results to narrow our focus on recruiting and news that effects player personnel.

After we made this change it allowed us to expand our newly focused coverage to a few conferences beyond the CAA. We picked up coverage of the MAAC, NEC, and Big Five. Eventually we even went outside of basketball and started tracking CAA Football recruiting as well.

With this expansion, the name CAA Insider no longer properly communicated the overall coverage of the website. So with that, a name change has been in the works for quite some time.

After much deliberation we decided upon Recruit Recon, which was a term we had used previously on the site (Recruit Recon: Chaz Williams Video Interview). Recon is short for reconnaissance, which in this sense is just basically a term for scouting or gathering information.

We will still be CAA Insider and will always keep the CAA Insider name and address.  At this time will still take you to our home page, but after a month or so will then take you straight to the CAA section of the site.

Moving forward the purpose of the site will not be changing, but you will start seeing more coverage of other schools and conferences beyond our core focus of the CAA, MAAC, NEC and Big Five. We will however still provide the same level of coverage we currently provide for those conferences and hopefully even improve upon it.

The first and most noticeable part of our expansion will be on the prospect lists for each school. Starting with the 2010 class we will have prospect lists for all Division-I teams. Due to a software upgrade this will be possible without any additional time or effort on our part. The other conference lists may not be as updated as our core conferences but it is definitely a step towards our ultimate goal of being the premier recruiting site for all D-I schools outside of the BCS Football Conferences (ACC, Big 12, Big East, Big Ten, Pac-10, and SEC).

We will continue to track players at all levels, but our primary goal is to provide the in depth recruiting coverage, that the conferences outside of the 6 BCS Football Conferences, do not receive.

With that being said, welcome to We appreciate all the interest and support we have received from everyone over these last couple years, and hope that you will continue to enjoy our site going forward. If you have any questions or would like to contact any of us, please feel free to use our new email addresses that can be found on our Contact Us page.
